Holistic Support
For Refugees in Hong Kong
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This is a compassionate, practical support program designed to address the immediate and critical survival needs of refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong. Operating within the legal constraints of the city’s “unified screening mechanism,” this initiative focuses on providing direct, tangible assistance where systemic support is absent. The program takes a case-management approach, offering a lifeline of essentials-nutritious food, emergency accommodation subsidies, vital non-food items, and community connection-to help individuals and families navigate their challenging legal limbo with dignity and stability.
CORE OBJECTIVES:
1• Ensure Basic Survival & Dignity: Guarantee reliable access to adequate nutrition, safe shelter, and essential personal items.
2· Reduce Social Isolation: Foster a supportive community network to combat the profound loneliness and mental health strains of the refugee experience.
3· Provide Navigation Support: Offer guidance and referral to trusted legal aid services, medical care, and psychosocial support within the complex Hong Kong system.
OUR ROLE: DIRECT AID, ADVOCACY & COORDINATION:
1• We Provide Direct Material Support: We source, fund, and distribute the essential goods and financial aid.
2· We Build Trusting Relationships: Our caseworkers are the consistent, reliable point of contact in an unstable environment.
3· We Collaborate, Not Duplicate: We partner closely with existing legal and medical NGOs to provide wrap-around support.
4• We Amplify Voices: We respectfully advocate for the needs of this community with donors and the public, raising awareness of their plight.
INTENDED OUTCOMES:
1• Measured Stability: Reduced incidence of hunger and eviction among participant families.
2· Improved Well-being: Participants report feeling safer, more supported, and less isolated.
3· Successful Navigation: Increased number of clients accessing and sustaining legal and medical services.
4• Stronger Community: Formation of a peer-support network among participants.
